TikTok Adds Live-Stream Intros to Better Facilitate Engagement

This is a small but potentially valuable addition to TikTok live broadcasts. As noted by the user Juna ManzanoTikTok has added a new Live Intro option that enables you to add a short text description to welcome new viewers as soon as they arrive via your broadcast.

As you can see in these sample screens (Reshared by Matt Navarra), the new LIVE Intro option, when turned on, will show viewers a short explanation when they come to your broadcast.

This could be a simple way to welcome viewers, explain what your broadcast is about, and what you want them to do, as participants in your broadcast.

Live broadcasting is gradually becoming a bigger component of TikTok as it looks to expand its horizons beyond short videos.

The main challenge for short clips is that they are difficult to monetize, because you can’t add in-play or pre-roll ads to each specific upload, which makes direct monetization a challenge. Live streaming allows more capacity in this interface, while TikTok also explores longer videos, profile stores, promo tiles, product showcase options and more.

And with the app poised to become the third largest social media platform in the world in 2022, after only Facebook and Instagram, it needs to expand its options in order to capitalize on its opportunities in this regard. Vine died because he couldn’t facilitate monetization of his top stars, causing them to migrate to other platforms instead, and TikTok is now avoiding the same fate by expanding its creative tools, in different ways.

It’s a smaller component of this overall boost, but live intros are another tool to help maximize opportunities, and get more creators to spend more time, and earn more money, in the app.
